
Butternut Squash Chowder

A fall themed creamy chowder with butternut squash, Italian turkey sausage and corn with white cheddar melted into the broth!

- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 pound (recent) (turkey) italian sausage, casings eliminated
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 onion, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 tablespoon sage, chopped
- 1 teaspoon pink pepper flakes (optionally available)
- 1/4 cup flour (gluten-free for gluten-free)
- 4 cups vegetable broth (hyperlink) (or rooster broth (hyperlink))
- 4 cups butternut squashed, lower into 1 inch cubes
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (or 1/2 cup bitter cream or 4 ounces cream cheese)
- 1 cup white cheddar cheese, shredded (optionally available)
- 2 cups corn (recent or frozen)
- salt and pepper to style
instructions
- Warmth the oil in a big saucepan over medium-high warmth, add the sausage and prepare dinner, breaking it aside because it cooks, earlier than setting apart.
- Add the butter, let it soften.
- Add the onion and prepare dinner till tender, about 5 minutes.
- Add the garlic, sage, pink pepper flakes, flour, combine nicely and prepare dinner till aromatic, a few minute.
- Add the broth, butternut squash, and sausage, convey to a boil, scale back the warmth and simmer till the squash is tender, about 20 minutes.

Choice: Add 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika together with the garlic.
